玉贝曾为古代货币。商周时期，为弥补天然货贝流通之不足而仿制玉贝，其交换价值与天然货贝等值或低于天然货贝。计量单位为朋，一朋十贝。春秋以后，玉贝逐渐失去其流通功能。
